GOBI AND ALTAY EXPLORE

Day1 By your arrival in UB meet with your tour guide. Transfer to hotel. According to your time of arriving you will do short city-tour. Explore to Gandan monestry, Buddhist center, Zanabazar museum, winter palace and Dinosaurs museum. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2. Today we will drive to east through Ulaanbaatar city, where we offer a full sightseeing tours with “Cginggis Khan Statue Complex” 54km from UB, in the place called “Tsonjin Boldog”, memorial place which is connected historical events. Stay in ger

Day 3. Drive to Dalanzadgad, capital of south Gobi and ready to discovery with Gobi Desert. After getting in Dalanzadgad we will drive about 1 an half hour to\45km\  Yoliin Am Valley is in the Zuun Saikhan Mountain which is located in the center of South Gobi province. The narrow valley between high rock walls have breathtaking dramatic scenery, and no doubt is one of the beautiful in the this country. In the more rainy summers hundreds of small waterfalls appear in the rocky walls. Overnight in the tent.

Day 4. To Hongoryn Els \Sand Dunes\

After breakfast we will head to  Hongoryn Els which is most highest sand all in Asia. Today we more in Gobi 800 meters high Sand Dune is in Servei soum, south aimag are called Hongoryn Els. These dunes are 20 wide 100km long. Don’t forget to ride camel here because the camel is matches in Gobi desert. The sunset is spectacular here. Overnight in tent.

Day 5. Drive about 270km about 4-5 hours, Tsagaan Suvraga ( White Stupa)

The scarp of Tsagaan Suvarga is located in Ulziit soum of Dundgovi province. It is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, which from a distance seems to be the ruins of the ancient city. The cliff is 30 meters high and 100 meters wide. Over thousands of years the wind has created this amazing structure.

It is sheer slope and was an old seabed with sedimentary structure created by millions years and the different colors of the ground represent different times.
The formation is over 50m in its highest point and continues 400m. Overnight in tent
 Day 6. Drive back to UB stay at hotel  

Day 7, 8 Eagle Festival

 Arrival in Olgii province  After early breakfast, drive 1.5 hrs and come to the festival place. Meet the Kazakh Eagle hunters. The rodeo of eagle hunting. A fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers alike to see these magnificent birds up close. There are approx. 400 eagle hunters in Bayan-Olgii aimag. The eagle hunters from around regions gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility in these few days. During the festival we also see some Kazakh Traditional Horse Games like “BushKushi” (Try to take out from each other the goat skin on horseback), “Kiss woman on horseback”, “Pick up coins from the land on horseback” and others. In the evening we enjoy to have the Kazakh Concert with some traditional songs and music. Overnights in nomadic style ger with Eagle hunter’s family.

Day 9. Drive to Altay Tavan bogd National park

after breakfast, drive to north and come nearby northern side of Tavan Bogd Nat,park (200kms-5-6hrs),(2000-2100m) white river valley, where one kind of Mongolian ethnic groups Tuvan Nomadic families spend summer and spring. In the evening, we reach the White river valley beginning point of hiking loop, where we will meet horserangers with pack camels. Overnight in ger.

Days 10. Tavanbogd massif (2550m-3300m, 4025m)

 Horse riding for 16 kms toward to see the snow-capped Tavanbogd massif and enjoy the view of the Potanina glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai. Tavanbogd means “The Holy Five”, referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level. Quite a considerable height at this altitude. It is a stunning setting with the awe-inspiring massif of high snow-capped peaks. Stay in ger at the white river valley.

Day 11. Drive Hoton Hurgan lakes /2300m/

About 180 km driving you will reach the Hoton and Hurgan twin lakes where many Nomadic

Kazakh families spend summer time. On the way we see the ancient Turcik bulbuls with the graveyards. This is beautiful place surrounded by mountains with forest which is wall of between China and Mongolia. Now we are closer to the Chinese border. One of the big waterfall have on that mountain. After crossing the wooden bridge on the water channel between Hoton and Hurgan lakes, we drive to north along the Hoton lake about 15kms and reach Biluut mountain. Here you can see the many petro-glyphs. Kazakh people who live here they are very kind and hospitality. They live in ger /yurt/ which madden by hand. Today we visit to Kazakh Eagle hunters family and introduce their lifestyle and feel their grade hospitality. See Eagle hunter’s golden eagle and learn some hunting skills. To be a eagle hunter requires patience. The experience training the wild bird training gained by the father to the son and kept deep secret. Hunting with eagle is one of the traditional game of Kazakh people. The Golden Eagle can hunting with fox, rabbit, marmot and sometimes wolf. We have special dinner Kazak traditional meal called Sirne. Overnight in ger.

Day 12. Drive until the car stop and hiking to the waterfall about 6km

After breakfast we will drive to the waterfall which is located in forest area. People used to call this place Switzerland of Mongolia. Having picnic lunch at the waterfall. If the weather is warm we have shower under the waterfall and helps you feeling fresh and cool. Come back to the ger by same way. Stay in ger.

Day 13. Drive back to Olgii about 200km

After breakfast time to say Goodbye to Eagle hunters family and heading to Olgii. On the way we stop for picnic lunch. We will drive by narrow valley along the Khovd river. Another different view of Altay mountain. Stay in hotel

Day 14: Fly to UB

After early breakfast, transfer to Olgii airport for check-in. Fly out to UB.

Some recommendations: Summer months in Mongolia are from early June to mid September. Although the Mongolian summers are hot and dry with occasional rain, the temperature can fluctuate as much 14-20 degrees centigrade between day and night. So be prepared for all weather conditions.

What to bring: Binoculars, sunscreen, a hat,gloves, long underware for travel in the high mountains, comfortable footware, lip balm, sanitary hand wipes, sunglasses, prescription medications (if needed), rain gear, flashlight.

Transport: Western Mongolian families frequently move from one pasture to the other using camels. The services of some herdsmen will be hired by the expedition, and they will provide us with their animals.

Staff: A local guide who speaks English and Kazakh, Mongolian will accompany the group at all times.A cook will follow, with an assistant. In addition, the services of the local herdsmen will be hired along with their animals. The horsemen follow a traditional lifestyle in the areas where we will be riding.

Meals: when we travel in Gobi we will book meals in the gercamp. When we arrive in Ulgii our cook will prepare the meals. We pride ourselves in having cooks adapt to both western and Mongolian cooking on our trips. There are always vegetables available, and we have no problem accommodating vegetarians on our trips. For breakfast we can buy fresh yogurt from the herdsmen in the local area sometimes.
